- The Jal Biradari unanimously opposes the Commercialization & Privatization of water; hence pledges for nationwide Satyagrah against the same.
- It is the firm belief of the Jal Biradari that the current National Water Policy paves the way for Commercialization and Privatization of water, which will dismiss society from their ownership rights. The river linking project will be unable to provide water for drinking and irrigation to all. Furthermore the Biradari understands that the Inter Linking of Rivers (ILR) project will greatly limit water availability & destroy the social water management system in India. Hence the Jal Biradari has no alternative but to oppose the current water policy and the ILR project. It believes that Community Based Water Management is the best & the only alternative we have.
- Jal Biradari demands that the Government of India must disseminate information about each and every aspect of the Interlinking River Project in detail to the proposed stakeholders and beneficiaries. Jal Biradari pledges to not allow the implementation of the project unless the government has public consensus.
- Jal Biradari is very much worried about the failure of the government system to control water pollution. Hence the Biradari demands government to ensure the firm implementation of the water pollution laws.
- With the intention of capturing our natural resources the government and the market are destroying the creative initiatives taken by the society, organizations and individuals. In fact the government is working on the principle of “Divide and Rule”. The Biradari believes that the resulting effect of this is an increase in the number of inter-society water conflicts. The ILR project will intensify these conflicts. Hence the Biradari advises that now is the time for society and the organizations to leave their selfishness and unite together for right action. Only their unity can sustain all. Jal Biradari is committed to create a self awakened society on water and concerned issues. To ensure its words become reality the Biradari will initiate a nationwide Water Literacy Mission. The initiative will speedup the campaign to inform & motivate all those concerned.
