Programs

The genesis of the Water, Forest and the Jal Biradari programs lies in the great urge that Rajendra Singh had of going into the real India to "do something". He marked out for himself a fifty kilometer stretch in Rajasthan where he would go and settle down. To start with he faced a lot of problems and to sustain himself he started practicing Ayurvedic Medicine in Village Bhikampura.

Meanwhile Rajendra Singh tried to understand the social dynamics, and wondered why the intelligent villagers did little to improve their lot? Wizened village elders told him about the plunder of the Aravallies which shielded northeastern Rajasthan from the blazing heat of the Tihar desert. They still remembered the auctioning off block of forests, when a local greedy prince sniffed the death of monarchy in an independent India. As the axe hit the woods, rain waters ran down the hills and valleys , eroding the fertile topsoil instead of seeping into the loins of the earth. The land became infertile over the years.

It was then Rajendra Singh realised the objective of his mission - WATER!

Since then there has been no looking back either for Rajendra Signh, Tarun Bharat Sangh or many many villages across India. Today TBS is working both at National and International Levels to support the cause of water and forest management.
